it's time. it's time. it's time........IT'S TIME FOR MAGIC.
Most people on the day of their vacation wake up early for whatever reason, excitement I guess? but this girls alarm went off and I just wanted to keep hitting snooze...I was so tired maybe from all the excitement prior. Party pooper, alert. We decided to stay at my familys house so that it would be closer to port than the original 2 & 1/2 hours from where we live. The person who was going to take us had other plans so that would mean we would leave their house at 8:50 am to get to port at 9:20 am. I was like SERIOUSLY>SO>EARLY?! But
there she is...:)
what a beaut.
We had a bit of a struggle to find the luggage porter so we walked back and fourth but we found them and they took them away! "Next time you see these will be onboard!" Yay!
Check in was fairly easy, she didn't ask for anything except our boarding passes. She didn't even take a picture of us because "your pictures in the system are still good" ....Uh, okay? This by the way, caused some problems later on.
.We were given boarding zone 2 and were told to wait. As time went on the place was getting loud and crowded. Soon I felt like a sardine........it was packed! Like I said earlier, we arrived at 9:30 ish?and sat there...waiting.....until 12:30. Apparently there was an issue with the previous cruise with customs..While I awkwardly people watched...this is what Sam did ....
WAKE UP SAM CAUSE THEY CALLED ZONE 2!!
We decided to go to Guys Burgers for lunch and I of course had to tell everyone I was on the cruise and ready to start my vacation so I would be shutting off my phone! (I never turned it off....) The line wasn't too long, honestly. I don't know if it's because we were one of the first people, technically, on the ship or everyone wanted to go elsewhere. We however, couldn't wait to try these burgers.
I just got the regular cheeseburger, and loaded it with the toppings they offer. I didn't really find any sauce I liked, though. So that was a little bit of a disappointment. I also didn't eat here often. I thought I would but I guess I wasn't in the mood for burgers much! *I only ate Guys Burgers like two times...Now I wish I could have one though; they were pretty good!
When we finished we just hung out and soaked it all in. We are finally on VACATION!
By this time it was almost time for rooms to be ready so we decided to go check to see if they were...andddddd ...Ready!
Of course he beat me to the room and wanted to be the one to see the room first. I told him he better not touch anything or put anything anywhere until I took pictures...My man listens :)
I bought some things from the funshops prior to boarding (thats the bag on the counter) and also pre-ordered bottled water for 2.99$. I got two pairs of Carnival flip-flops and a t-shirt. The flip flops were only 3.99$! WHAT A DEAL except the Carnival sign fell off on both...ah fail.
Here I am, enjoying the beautiful view...........of Port Canaveral lol.
The room isn't the normal layout, I really like it because it is bigger than some of the other staterooms and I won't lie, that's why I chose it. There are some drawbacks to this room though, but i'll tell you all about it later on.
After that, we pretty much hung out in the room and relaxed until Muster time. We were in muster station E2 or E7 E3 I don't even remember but it was one floor up in the Southern Lights Dining Room. We sat and listened and waited and listened more and laughed at our cruise director Reverend Dr. E. I gotta say he was the best cruise director I have ever had; he was hilarious and everyone was laughing but he did tell us that he wasn't trying to make it less serious, because it is crucial to understand what to do in the state of a real emergency, but he was trying to make it more memorable and to grab everyone's attention. Apparently we listen to funny people better than monotone?! ;)
After the muster we went to the disco night club for a quick Facebook meet n greet and shot glass exchange! It was nice to meet everyone I had been annoying chatting to about finals and counting down with. We left shortly though to watch sail away and Sam went to get pizza lol.
I'm not quite sure what we did after this but my pictures skip from sail away to before dinner. Dinner isn't until 8:15pm so i'm going to safely assume, we walked around, and then I probably got cranky like a tired child, went back to the room, and we fell asleep! zzzZzz
Our assigned dining room was in the Northern Lights Dining Room at 8:15pm where we found out we were sitting at a 8 seater and met our lovely table mates who ended up being almost same age range but they were all sooo very nice. We actually ended up hanging out with 2 of the couples one night and one of the couples every day after we met them on night 3!
Dinner tonight was sooo goooood! I don't remember any names of the dishes we ate (no i didn't eat all that on my own) I said I was gonna take pictures of the menus and I never did so shame on me, for not doing what I said I was gonna do. Ooooops. But here are the pictures so you can see.
Oh, yeah the American Table dining is good, I won't lie I always forgot to look at the port of call section just because i'm so used to the basic menus but the food was great, I could care less about the table cloth covers. I don't think it looks any less fancy. I do have to say I really don't like the fact that the bread and butter you share.....1. I like to double, triple, forever put butter on my bread and 2. I hate asking for the bread basket or butter when it's by another person. I. am. a. bread. hogger. Mine. Mine. Mine. All mine!
Well after dinner we went back to the room since the nap wasn't enough I guess and I remember saying I was going to get up soon so we could go to the comedy show at 10:15pm but I woke up some time in the middle of the night feeling like I just missed the whole cruise. I was disappointed in myself for falling asleep early I was not gonna let that happen again.
I did snap a picture of the towel animal. I have no idea what it is but it's cute. I was putting all of them on the window but our stateroom attendant didn't approve apparently because they kept disappearing??? I wonder.....
OH! By the way, his name is Iwayan. He was reallly sweet and greeted us earlier this day by our names and all throughout the cruise. A++ for him! I miss him now.....You know, you never fully appreciate anything until you don't have it anymore, i'm telling you. To come back home and not have any clean towels or a nice made up bed? Like UGH! What even!?
Well, this is all for Day 1//Embarkation day.
Tomorrow is a sea day!
This bed looks super comfy right now. I want to sleep. Goodnight!
Followed you over from CC. Sounds like you had a great start to your cruise. Love your report!
